This training is required for all faculty, post-doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students who will work in the MRI Lab. It is required for all personnel who will work in Zones 3 and 4 in the MRI Suite. This course provides an understanding of MRI hazards, safety zones, safety policies, and procedures for emergencies within the MRI Suite.
Individuals who complete this course and pass the test are categorized as Level 1 MRI Personnel and may: enter unescorted into Zone 2 and 3 in the MRI Lab; observe and assist the MRI Technologist/ Operator; and serve as a backup emergency responder during MRI scans. Level 1 personnel must hold a valid CPR card. Level 1 trained personnel may not operate the MRI scanner or conduct non-emergency support activities in Zone 4.
This course is a pre-requisite to attend the Level 2 MRI Safety Training course.
